- Bruce DuWayne Henning, 84, born Jan. 13, 1927, lifelong resident of Appleton, Wis., went to the Lord's house on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, after a courageous battle with heart disease.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Sarah Henning.
Bruce was married for 62 years to his beloved wife, Dolores (Dee) Mae (Brinkman) Henning. He was a wonderful and devoted husband and father to Diane (Craig) Cluberton, Richmond, Va.; David (Kaye) Henning, Menasha; Kari (Jeff) Seubert, Appleton; Steven (Ann) Henning, Appleton. He was also a loving grandfather to 11 grandchildren and proud great-grandpa to five adorable great-grandchildren. Also survived by his siblings, Delmer (Shirley) Henning, Appleton; Betty (Gerald) Mueller, Appleton; and Robert (Judy) Henning, Menasha; as well as many dear friends especially, his bowling buddies from Super Bowl.
Bruce graduated from Appleton High School in 1945 where he was a decorated athlete and then was drafted into the Army Air Corps. Bruce was a lifelong wire-weaver, employed by Appleton Wireworks and Asten (Johnson) until he retired at age 64. He was a dedicated employee and took great pride in his work.
His family was not only his legacy but his pride and joy. Bruce was the jack-of-all trades and shared his knowledge with all. Bruce will be greatly missed and remembered for his gentle demeanor, tender heart and unmatched dedication to his family and friends.
A memorial service for Bruce will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 3009 N. Meade St., Appleton, with the Rev. Kurt Hoffman and the Rev. Dee Sim officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. He will be laid to rest in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Bruce Henning's name.
