- Ambrose Hammen, 96, Little Chute, died on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at his home. He was born May 7, 1915, in Little Chute, son of William and Anna (Derks) Hammen. Amy married Lucille Rademacher on October 10, 1939, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Hollandtown. Lucille preceded him in death on December 7, 2004. Ambrose was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute, the Jacob Coppus American Legion, Post #258, Little Chute, and the Golden Agers. He was instrumental in establishing the Cub Scouts in Little Chute as well as the Little Chute Food Pantry. Amy was a St. John's Athletic Association Hall of Famer, who enjoyed making woodcrafts, and fishing, especially in Canada. In addition, Ambrose was a professional photographer, avid reader, and sports fan. He was employed with Kimberly Clark Corporation for 43 years before retiring.
Ambrose is survived by his children: Ed (Ellen) Hammen, Little Chute, Linda (Lyle) Hansen, Kimberly, Bruce (Vicki) Hammen, Little Chute, Lois (Tom) Ciske, York, Montana, Mark Hammen, Forest Junction, and Nick (Deb) Hammen, Cascade, Montana; 16 grandchildren: Gracie (Joel) Mueller, Ed Jr. (Jenifer) Hammen, Frank (Candace) Hammen, Mark (Colleen) Hansen, Sara (Mitch) Piontek, Eric (special friend Kathy) Hansen, Greg (Becky) Hansen, Adam (Laura) Hammen, Phillip (Jenna) Hammen, Leah (Dylan) Hilbert, Kacie and Jessica Ciske, Rachel Morris, Daniel (Gail) VandenHeuvel, David (Lynn) VandenHeuvel, and Erin (Greg) Vandenberg; 26 great grandchildren: Alex, Ellie, Noah, Teagan, Tatum, Trayden, Nick, Noel, Claire, Mitchel, William, Charlie, Allison, Libby, Logan, Abby, Derek, Teron, Haley, Morgan, Ella, Mason, Sam, Saryn, Ashton, and Emma; brothers: Bill (Iky) Hammen, Jim (Alice) Hammen, and Bob (Jan) Hammen; sisters: Doris Vosters, Joan (Ken) Driessen, and Florence Poppe; a sister-in-law: Eunice Hammen; other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Imelda Hammen; brothers and sisters: Maurice (Marie) Hammen, Ernie Hammen, Isadore (Helen) Hammen, Agnes (Ed) Schuler, Ria (Paul) Balgie, Geraldine (Ray) Keyzers; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Ruby (Len) Van Zeeland, Grace (Ray) Prange, Marcel (Fedelia) Rademacher, Allen (Clara) Rademacher, Marie (Herman) Kees, Ed Poppe, and Bernard Vosters.
Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine Street, Little Chute, with Msgr. James VandenHogen officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday until the Mass at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Ambrose's name. Military honors will be performed by members of Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258 following the services in church.
