  Stephen Dillon Furstenberg, age 66, of Appleton, passed away on April 26, 2016. Steve was born on July 18, 1949. In 1970 he married the former Mary Whitman and the two enjoyed over 45 years together. At a fairly young age, Steve suffered a brain aneurysm that many people thought he might never survive but, Steve was a fighter. Not only did he survive but he excelled. He received several degrees in his life. He held a degree in Forestry and Drafting and graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh with a degree in Social Work. Steve loved his family, his friends who were very special to him, and his many cats. Steve enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the cottage with his family. Steve will be sadly missed by his wife Mary, brothers: Michael (Dianne) Furstenberg; David (Susan) Furstenberg; sister, Noel (Joel) Grunwaldt; sisters-in-law: Susan Heuer, Appleton; Kathy Sager, Appleton; Ellen (David) Rothmann, Appleton, friend and "Brother" who took very special care of Steve, Todd Popp; 2 special nephews: Tommy Heuer and Peter Grunwaldt as well as many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert Furstenberg, DDS, mother Geraldine (Furstenberg) Shannon and step-father Ed Shannon, brother-in-law and sister in law Steve and Cathryn Whitman, 2 brothers-in-law: Tom Heuer and Ron Sager. In keeping with the family's wishes, no funeral services will be held. To express condolences, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com. In lieu of flowers and other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund is being established in Steve's name. The family would like to express a very special thank you to the staff and nurses at Brewster Village for all the wonderful care given to Steve.
