- Contrary to her concerns, the good Lord didn't forget her after all. Pauline E. Anhalt, age 102 ½, of Appleton, passed away with her Rosary in her hands on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Brewster Village. Pauline was born in Chilton on December 9, 1909 to the late Matthew and Mary (Grewe) Achter. On January 31, 1933 she was united in marriage to Lando A. Anhalt in Jericho. The couple shared 70 years together until Lando passed away in 2003. Pauline took great pride in her housekeeping and was very proud of her home. She was an extraordinary seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and baking and was known for her famous Paradise Torte. Pauline was a member of the Ladies of St. Joseph at St. Joseph Catholic Church where she had been a longtime parishioner.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Tom - favorite son-in-law) School Sr., Appleton; favorite granddaughter, Stacy (John) Tadych, Kaukauna; four great grandchildren: twins Kelsey and Kaylee, "J.T." and Alex Tadych; and sister-in-law Marie Achter, Oshkosh. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. (Many of you heard Pauline say: "Ach, you're just a kid!")
She was preceded in death by a grandson and his wife Tom (Sarah) School Jr., and four brothers: Fritz (Erna), Joe, John (Theresa), Leo (Margaret), and an infant brother.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 404 W. Lawrence St., Appleton, with Msgr. John Schuh officiating, assisted by Deacon C. F. Dedman. Friends may visit on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel, and directly at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Deacon C. F. Dedman for all his faithful visits, and also to the Brewster Village angels in Heritage I/The Mills, who provided such loving care to Pauline during the past almost three years.
