- Adell Schleis, 96 years young, of Appleton, passed away on May 23, 2011, at Carolina Manor. Adell was born in Kaukauna, on September 19, 1914, to the late Floyd and Kate (Blake) Harvey. The family moved to Manitowoc. She married Gerald Schleis on September 22, 1941. Together they established "Jerry's Pipe Shop" on College Avenue in downtown Appleton. Adell was active and proud to be part of Eastern Star and Altrusa.
Adell is survived by her sister, Joan (Harvey) Borgman, and many favorite nieces and nephews; Dirk and Trish Borgman, Mike and Kathy Harvey, Pat and Nancy Harvey, Nan Harvey, Dave Schultz, Max and Gayle Schultz, Dinny and Dave Grueneberg, great-nieces and nephews; Tricia Harvey, Tim Harvey, Meagan Harvey, Elizabeth Brahmy, Cory Schultz, Patrick, Ryan and Andrew Borgman, as well as her wonderful friends.
Adell was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, her sister, Dorothy (Fred) Schultz, her brother Charles (Betty Lou) Harvey, a nephew Reed Harvey and a brother-in-law, Al Borgman.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011, at 1 p.m. at the Wichmann Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of services at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Adell would like contributions donated to NAMI Fox Valley.
The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the St. Paul at Home people that helped Adell continue to live independently for as long as possible. A big thank you to the staff at Colony Oaks for Adells Recent Rehab. A huge Thank You to all the wonderful staff and people at Carolina Manor for making Adell feel so at home and Comfortable.
