  Arlene E. Fuerst, age 90, New London, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, following a brief illness. Arlene was born on July 12, 1920, in New London, daughter of the late Elmer and Alice (Whitman) Quant. On September 29, 1951, she was united in marriage to Marlin Fuerst, he preceded her in death in 1986. Arlene and Marlin owned and operated the Sport-O-Lectric Store in New London from 1945-1987. She was a longtime member of the New London Lionettes. Arlene is survived by a brother, Raymond Quant, Madison; two sisters-in-law, Elaine Quant, Oshkosh and Valda Quant, Merriam, Kansas. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a son, Fred (2006). Funeral services for Arlene will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff, doctors and nurses of Theda Clark ICU.
