- Young, James J. James J. Young, age 76 years, of Clintonville, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at St. Joseph Residence, New London. James John Young was born August 23, 1931, in New London to the late Theodore and Anna Marie (Peters) Young. He was united in marriage on October 14, 1953, to Beatrice Carol Desmond at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek. The couple farmed for many years just east of Bear Creek. After selling the farm, Jim worked for Larsen's Cooperative in New London, selling seed to area farmers for over 10 years. The couple moved to Clintonville in the late 1970s. His wife, Carol, preceded him in death on March 25, 2004. Jim is a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek, and is currently a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville. Jim enjoyed fishing, wood crafts, gardening, watching and feeding the birds, and playing cards, especially sheepshead.
Survivors include eight children: Joan Reissmann, Neenah; Michael (Cathy) Young, Appleton; Margie Carpenter, Navarino; Marie (Rusty) Wied, Weyauwega; Shirley (Karol) Young, Madison; Frank Young, Clintonville; Steve (Jill) Young, Clintonville; Andrew Young, Appleton. There are 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; four sister: Mildred Stingle, Black Creek; Rosie (Lloyd) Glatz, Kaukauna; Bernice (Ronald) Young, Kaukauna; Marcella (James) Freimuth, Appleton; four brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law: Bill (Mary) Desmond, Neshkoro; Darlene (Lloyd) Mares, Bear Creek; Dick (Joyce) Desmond, Wyoming; Joanne (Mike) VanWagner, Poy Sippi; Danny Desmond, Oconto Falls; and John (Kay) Desmond, Hortonville. Further survived by many other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Carol, a sister-in-law Mary Desmond, and a brother-in-law Dennis Stingle.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 22nd, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek. Fr. John "Jack" Mullarkey will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Friday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the procession leaves for the church.
