- Janice M. Mader, age 68, of Chilton, died surrounded by her loving family on July 22, 2007, at the Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. She was born June 4, 1939, in White Lake, WI, daughter of the late Gilbert and Mildred (Safford) Voigt. She graduated from Appleton High School in 1957 and married Charles C. Mader, Jr. in 1959 in Appleton. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2001. During her life, Janice worked for two years at Tuttle Press and later worked as the secretary of the Chilton High School from 1967 until 1972. In 1979, she began working at the Calumet County Court House as an Economic Support Worker in both the Child Support office and in Human Services. She retired after 25 years of service in 2004, and began working part time for Lois' Custom Hair Care.
Janice was a Union Stewart for Local ASFME, was a charter member of the Chilton Jaycettes and the Chilton Dance Club. She also volunteered many hours as a Cub Scout Den Mother and a Campfire Girl Leader. Janice always tried living her life by the "Golden Rule" and also enjoyed golfing, RV Camping, traveling, the Green Bay Packers, feeding birds, loved cats and working on her yard. Most of all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and keeping her home clean.
Survivors include her children: Dennis (Diana) Mader of Waukesha, WI; Susan (Michael) Nugent of Appleton; Michael (fiancee Terri Bolz) Mader of Chilton; grandchildren: Peter, Ryan and Andrea Mader, Joanna and Marissa Schleh; a sister, Joyce (Roger) Popelka of Bradenton, FL; twin brother, Jerry G. Voigt and special friend Linda Vitale of White Lake, WI; nieces and nephews: Roger (Carol) Popelka of LaCrosse; Dawn Popelka of Harford, MI; Julie Jay of Minneapolis, MN; Jennifer (David) Modder of Lauderdale, MN; John (Jolene) Konkel of Mineapolis MN; her second family Lucille Mader of Appleton; very special friend, Carl DeCoster of Kaukauna; and her sisters and brothers-in-law: Julia (James) Ebben of Appleton; Georgianna (James) Pankratz of Appleton; and Louie (Deb) Mader of Shawnee, KS.
She was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Melissa Mader; and a sister, June Voigt.
Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the Wieting Family Funeral Home in Chilton with the Rev. Jim Jensen officiating. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2007, and later on Wednesday at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. when services will be held. Memorials in the name of Janice M. Mader may be directed to the MS Society, the American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association.
