- Rose Marie 'Rosie' Haun Cashton, Wis. - Rose Marie "Rosie" Haun, 60, of Cashton went to be with our Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse after a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Rosie was born April 16, 1947, to Laurence and Barbara (Bedward) Jones in town of Bloomington, Grant County, Wis. When her mother died just five months after her birth, she was brought to the home of Percy and Ruby (Atkinson) Jones. Percy and Ruby were, in every sense of the word, her mother and father. She was raised in Wauzeka, Wis., and graduated from Wauzeka High School. After graduation, she attended Richland County Teacher's College in Richland Center, Wis. Then the love of her life entered into her life. Rosie was united in marriage to Jerry Haun on Jan. 14, 1967, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wauzeka. They moved to Cashton, where they lived for the past 41 years.
Rosie spent her life caring for others. Her greatest desire was to be a loving and supportive wife and mother, in which she was very successful. Once the children were in school, she worked with the elderly at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby as a Certified Nurse's Assistant. She also worked as a Rescue Squad Volunteer in Cashton for many years. Later, she would work at Vernon Area Rehabilitation Center, helping disabled adults to learn life skills. Finally, she decided to work with children again at the Cashton School District. She helped students with learning disabilities to be successful in school. She was unable to continue to work after a long hospitalization and recuperation time, so instead she chose to volunteer her time working with the children at Sacred Heart Catholic School. Rosie was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church on St. Mary's Ridge.
Rosie is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Jerry Haun; her daughter, Terri (Greg) Zielke of Onalaska, Wis., two sons, Scott (Karyn) Haun of Plymouth, Wis., and Craig (Liane) Haun of Tomah, Wis.; seven grandchildren, Mitch and Dan Zielke of Onalaska, Chandler, Max and Gabe Haun of Plymouth, and Brooklynn and Annabelle Rose Haun of Tomah; her mother, Ruby Jones of Wauzeka; two sisters, Mary Carolina and Beverly Sheckel, both of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; two brothers, Loren (Jerri) Sawvell of North Carolina and Dale (Madeline) Bedward of Michigan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her birth mother and father and adopted father.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in St. Mary's Ridge. Father Roger Scheckel will officiate. Burial will follow in the St. Mary's Ridge Cemetery. Family and friends are invited for visitation today, March 18, from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7:30 p.m., at Torkelson Funeral Home in Cashton. Family and friends are also invited for visitation on Wednesday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered at www.torkelsonfuneralhome.com .
She was loved much and she loved much.
