- James E. Hauert, age 79, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at Dove Healthcare Nursing and Rehabilitation.
James was born Oct. 26, 1929, to Alvin and Vivian (Taylor) Hauert in Appleton. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. On June 5, 1954, he married Marion Torgerson in Eau Claire. James worked many years for Ameritech, retiring in 1989. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cheering on the Packers and spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marion; children, Mary E. (Dale) Smieja of Eau Claire, Douglas A. (Stephanie) of the village of Lake Hallie, Kathryn J. (Jay) Jackson of Cincinnati, Nancy A. (Paul) Brenner of Eau Claire, Sandra A. (Randy) Coley of Forest Lake, Minn., Robert J. of Eau Claire; grandchildren, Kristi, Jeremiah, Nicole, Joe, Josh, Jessica, Joelle, Raeann, James, Brian, Jeff and Nick; great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jared; sisters, JoAnn (LeRoy) Belling of Appleton and Barbara Tungate of Neenah; nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph and Harold.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Hope Lutheran Church (corner of Starr Avenue and Eddy Lane), with the Rev. Randy Olson officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home (on Golf Road one block east of Highway 93) and also one hour prior to service at church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors provided by VFW Post 305.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Church.
