- Gladys Irene Peotter, age 94 of Neenah, passed away early Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Valhaven Care Center. She was born June 22, 1917 to the late Sam and Lucy (Thompson) Bockin in Neenah. On September 14, 1939, she married Robert Peotter, Sr.
Having lived in Neenah for most of her life, Gladys was a 1935 Neenah High School graduate that retired from Kimberly-Clark in 1982. She was also a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was a devoted member of the Altar Guild and the Mission Group. She enjoyed polka dancing with her husband on their weekly outings, bowling, and also listening to Bob play in the Neenah Community Band. Through his membership in the band, the two were able to take a trip to Australia, Romania, and the Holy Land, where Gladys had the opportunity to ride a camel.
Gladys is survived by her loving husband of almost 72 years, Bob, Sr.; her sons: Jerry (Diane), Appleton; Wayne (Lynn), Neenah; Dennis (Christine Robinson), Elgin, IL; Robert, Jr., Tacoma, WA; granddaughters: Susan Nyhan, Kent, WA; Paula (Darren) Myers, Plano, TX; Amy (Jacob) Wallgren, New York Mills, MN; Elizabeth Peotter, Federal Way, WA; great-grandchildren: Grace and Lucy Wallgren; the mother of Dennis' daughter, Nancy Peotter; and the mother of Bob, Jr.'s daughter, Debbie Hopen. She is further survived by her in-laws: Mary Peotter; Pat Kunstman; and Jim (Sandy) Peotter. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bob's parents; and in-laws: William "Bud" Peotter; Ted and Jeanette Elseth; Dick Kunstman; and Dick and Nancy Peotter.
A funeral service for Gladys will be held Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Neenah, Rev. James Plymire officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the hour of service at church. Interment will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery, Winchester.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Our Savior's Altar Guild or Mission Group would be appreciated.
