- Neenah - Laverne O. Birkholz age 88, of Neenah, passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Laverne was born on March 1, 1930 daughter of the late Charles and Ora (Pierce) Collins. Laverne married Russell Birkholz on September 9, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oshkosh. Laverne enjoyed fixing and buying dolls, antiques, socializing and spending time with her family. In her early years she enjoyed bowling at Lakeroad Lanes in Neenah and was a clerk at Sentry Foods.
She is survived by her children, Russell (Debbie) Birkholz, Dorothy (Eric) Postl, Cindy (Steve) Ashley and Terry (Debra) Birkholz. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Carl (Adrienne) Birkholz, Alyson (James) Zwoniarkiewicz, Tim (Julia), and Ben (Laura) VanOudenhoven, Dylan Postl, Derek (Ella) Ashley, Krystle (Cheyne) Heyer, Nicole, Jason and Logan Birkholz; her great-grandchildren, Ariah Ashley, Averie, Elias and Ezra VanOudenhoven,and Landon Postl; her sisters, Lois Sonnenberg and Verna Thiel, a brother, Charles Collins, many nieces and nephews and many special friends.
Laverne was preceded in death by her husband Russell, a daughter, Barbara Brandtmeier, a brother, Alan (Rose) Collins, and a sister Alice (Roland) Carpenter, brothers-in-law, Marlin Thiel, Lyle Sonnenberg and Raymond Buege and sisters-in-law, Doris Buege and Lois Collins.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 900 Geiger Street, Neenah. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Oshkosh.
