  Walter Miller Succumbs at 79 Industrialist Was Attached to Several Appleton Interests Walter K. Miller Sr., 79, 342 River Drive, Appleton industrialist, died unexpectedly about 8 a.m. today. He had served as president of Advance Car Mover, Inc., a Firm founded by his father to manufacture railway car movers in 1903 from 1930 to his retirement early this year; was president of Appleton Wood Products Co., a firm founded in 1916 to manufacture paper mill equipment; was treasurer of Safety Truck Brake Co., Inc., and secretary of Machinery and Supplies, Inc., all Appleton Firms. Miller also was founder and an officer of Shellmar Products Co., one of the pioneers in the Tinting of cellophane paper. The firm operated in Milwaukee and Chicago and now is part of Continental Can Co. with a plant in Ohio. Miller had served as a director of Appleton State Bank since 1946 and had been a director of Valley Bancorporation since its organization. He also was secretary-treasurer of Valley Ready Mix Concrete Products Co. from 1938 to 1955 and since then had continued as secretary. In addition he was a director of Riverside Cemetery, had been active in the Appleton Chamber of Commerce, and Turn to Page 10, Col. 5 was a member of the rationing board during World War II. He was a member of the Elks. Masonic Order and Tripoli Shrine Club of Milwaukee, and of Appleton Rotary, of which he had served as president. He also served on the board of deacons of First Congregational Church. Born Dec. 10, 1887, he had lived most of his life in Appleton. Survivors are three sons, 10 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wichmann Funeral Home, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Friday.
