- Vera Charlene Barr West passed away peacefully on March 15, 2008, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 14, 1929, in Iron Mountain, Mich., to Alexander and Dorothy Barr. Vera married Carl on Sept. 9, 1950. She loved family gatherings, baking and cooking, spending time up north in the woods of Crivitz, but most important was time with the family and friends, especially the great-grandchildren.
Vera is survived by her husband, Carl; children, Sandra Rozell, Kingsford, Mich.; Carla (Dennis) Vaubel, Michael (Cathy) West, Gary (Linda) West and Dennis (Debra) West, all of Appleton; grandchildren, Nicole Rozell, Franklin, Wis.; Raymond (Tiffany) Vaubel, Appleton; Heather (Jason) Barke, Birnamwood, Wis.; Antony (Brandi) West, Kaukauna, Wis.; Aric (Lisa) Vaubel, Menasha, Wis.; Rebecca (Matthew) Livingstone, Oshkosh; and Michael Wender, Iron Mountain, Mich.; great-grandchildren, Megan Vaubelm, Appleton; Sophia West, Kaukauna; August Barke, Birnamwood; Grace Rozell, Franklin, Wis.; Sienna Vaubel, Appleton; Faith Rozell, Franklin, Wis.; and two expected, Baby Vaubel and Baby Boy Barke; brother and sisters, Beatrice (George) Brozovich, Iron Mountain, Mich.; Patsy (Daniel) Trembley, Quinnesec, Mich.; Ronald (Carol) Barr, Appleton; and Nancy Barr, Appleton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Zapp, Appleton; Joyce West, Mountain, Wis.; Shirley Brouillard, Appleton; Thomas (Marion) West, Appleton; Harry (Diane) West, Shawano; Jerald (Mary) West, Appleton; her good friends, Rose and Joy Lynn; many nieces and nephews.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Roger Barr; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Zapp, Ray Brouillard and Richard West.
The family would like to express a very Special thank you to Dr. Swanson and the staff on 4SW at AMC and the staff at the Martha Siekman Center.
Funeral services for Vera will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 209 S. Allen St., Appleton, Wis., with the Rev. Kurt Kovanen officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established and may be directed to the family.
