- Engel, Norbert Franc is "Nibs"Norbert Francis Engel, 81, died Friday, August 4, 2006, with loving fami ly at his side. Born on June 19, 1925, to William and Christine (Johann) E ngel.He proudly served in the U.S Navy during World War II and was a memb er of the American Legion. Norbert married Eleanor (Lee) Hooyman June 1 2, 1948, and always told each other, "God made you for me." Our family w as proud of Dad giving of himself so completely by working at American C an for 33 years, while owning his own business, Central Machining, and inv enting numerous devices to make life and work better.Nibs was known for his clever wit. He enjoyed time spent with the family l ike camping and going to church dinners, hunting, fishing and watching t he Packers and Badgers play. He loved the Eucharist and the Catholic fai th and called Jesus his best friend. He was a member of the Nicolet Counc il Knights of Columbus #1838.Norbert was the loving husband of Eleanor for 58 years, father of 11 child ren and grandfather of 31, which include: Mary (Lee), Michael, Shannon (Ch ild), Erin and Ryan Hurley, Appleton; Gerri (Dave), Amy and Nick Ballie t, Appleton; Ellen (Tom), Tom (Jill), Matt (fiance Roxanne), Carrie (Tom ), Nick and Beth Hoover, Georgia; Sue (Dave), Brian, Scott, Jenny and Dav id II Van Boxtel, Appleton; Sandy (Peter), Justin (Tammy), Jason, Jeremy ( Mandy) Zastrow, Darboy; Tom (Mary), Kelly (Chad), Jessica, Brett and Ashl ey Engel, Mequon; Paul Engel, Appleton; Tim (Lisa), Michael and Amanda Eng el, Georgia; Nancy (John), Tiffany, Brandon, Travis and Blake Arndt, Apple ton; Neil (Kelly), Dana, Zach, Josh, Noah and Matthew Engel, Sherwood; Ja ck (Kaylene) Engel, Oconomowoc. Also great-grandfather of 15. Brother of B ill (Ivy) Engel, Kansas; Ginny (Joe) Welhouse, Oregon; Therese (Leonard) B urgess, Oregon. Further survived by loving brother-in laws and sister-in-l aws and many relatives and friends.The family wants to especially thank Paul, for his loving care of Dad.Visitation Tuesday at Laemmich Funeral Home, Menasha, 4-7 p.m. and Rosa ry at 6:30 p.m. Deacon Jerry Cross officiating.
