- Van Lanen, RichaRichard G. Van Lanen, age 81, of Kaukauna, died Sunday, July 30, 200 6, at Franciscan Care Center. Richard was born in Green Bay on June 30, 19 25, to the late Albert and Delia (Peters) Van Lanen. On September 6, 194 7, Richard married Mary Frances Rooyakkers at Holy Name Church in Kimberl y. His parents owned Van's Upholstery Shop in Kaukauna where Richard learn ed the trade. Though he worked for the Kimberly Post Office for 33 years u ntil his retirement in 1980, Richard did continue to upholster part tim e. Richard proudly served in the Navy during WWII and also the Korean Wa r. He was a past commander of the Catholic War Vets. Richard was an avid o utdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and driving logging trails with h is Jeep. He loved time spent with family and friends. He also enjoyed trav eling and just being at his retirement home in Mountain.Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary; three sons: Mark (Sue ), De Pere; Guy (Cindy), Combined Locks; Jack (Kay), Little Chute; six gra ndchildren: Matt, Andy, Nick, Brett, Mike and Sam; brother: Junior "Moe" V an Lanen; sisters: Dolores Feldkamp and Vivian (Jack) Schaefer; brothers a nd sisters-in-law: Mary Jean Van Lanen, George (Audrey), Everett (Mary), L eo, Joann, Helen and Mary Jo Rooyakkers, Cora Ulmen, Theresa Bongers, Ce il (Ray) Mc Cormick and Ethel (Maury) Brockman. Richard is further surviv ed by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by a brother: Eu gene Van Lanen; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Peter, Henry, Paul, Antho ny, Francis, Bernadette and Marge Rooyakkers; Ray Bongers, Carl Ulmen a nd Bob Feldkamp.The Funeral Mass will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday August 2, 2006 at St. Paul Ca tholic Church, Combined Locks. The Rev. James Lucas will officiate. Milita ry rites will take place immediately following the Mass with the William V erhagen American Legion Post 60 presiding. Friends may call after 2:30 p. m. until time of Mass directly at church.The Van Lanen family is especially thankful and grateful for the exception al care and support provided by those at Theda Care at Home Hospice.
