- Norbert J. Micke, Hollandtown, age 85, died peacefully in his sleep at his beloved farm on Friday, June 29, 2012. He was born October 11, 1926, in the Town of Holland, to the late Joseph and Cecilia (Heiting) Micke. On April 28, 1959 Norbert was united in marriage to the former Mary Ann Tennessen. Together they farmed in the Town of Holland until 1979. He was later employed at Badger Northland and Haen's Veal Farm. For many years, he enjoyed working at Star Orchard in Hollandtown. He was a very hard working man. Norbert did volunteer work for St. Francis Catholic Church, where he was a member. He was a lifetime member of the Catholic Knights of Columbus, especially dedicated to the yearly tootsie roll drive. Norbert's Catholic faith was extremely important to him. He spent many early mornings cleaning several local baseball diamonds. Norbert enjoyed gathering hickory nuts, growing asparagus and fruits, tapping maple trees to make syrup, all of which he shared with family and friends. Norbert enjoyed a good game of sheepshead as well as other card games. Many good conversations happened over a glass of his homemade wine. One of his favorite pastimes was driving around the countryside looking at the farmer's fields. Norbert was very dedicated to his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his three sons: Joseph (Janine), Daniel (Kathy), and Thomas (Belinda); four grandchildren: Amanda, Thomas, Julia, and Veronica; two sisters: Bernice Haen and Marie (Homer) Meehl; a brother-in-law, Les Auden. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann in 1985, two sisters: Sr. Mary Agatha and Jeanne Auden, and a brother-in-law, Eugene Haen.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. FRANCIS CHURCH, County Rd CE, Hollandtown with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Monday July 2, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna with a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 concluding the evening. Friends will be received again directly at church on Tuesday from 9:00 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established. www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com
Dad, Thanks for always being the greatest role model of Christ's love. You were always kind, gentle, generous, and loving. We never heard you say a harsh word about anyone. We will miss your quick smile and ever present laugh. Thanks for being the best father, grandpa, and the best father-in-law to the girls.
