- Appleton - Marie Powers passed away on March 28, 2018 She was born on July 7, 1925 In Kaukauna, Wisconsin. The daughter of Walter and Eva Romnesko, she was the second youngest of 10 children - she had 6 brothers and three sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Michael, Leon, Lloyd, Mark, Orrin and Monroe Romenesko and her sisters Martha Jacobs and Germaine Reinholz.
Marie married her high school sweetheart on September 7, 1946. Throughout the 71+ years of their marriage she enjoyed cheering for the Green Bay Packers, attending her grandchildren's athletic events in high school and college and traveling with her husband Dick both nationally and internationally. In addition to living most of her life in the Fox Valley, she and Dick also lived in Dayton Ohio, Dallas, Texas, and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Marie is survived by her husband Richard (Dick) Powers, her daughter Kathleen Oliaro and her husband Paul, two grandchildren - Scott Oliaro and his wife Jeri and Amy Gautreau and her husband Matt - and four great-grandchildren Caitlin and Jackson Gautreau and Mia and Tyler Oliaro. She is also survived by her sister, Frances Hutton, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral liturgy will be held at St. Mary Church, 312 S State St. in Appleton Wisconsin on Wednesday, April 4th at 10:30am. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Asera Hospice of Bellevue (2633 Development Dr #10, Bellevue, WI 54311) or Mayo Clinic for Alzheimer's Research in Rochester, MN (200 First St. SW Rochester, MN 55905).
The family would like thank Asera Hospice and the wonderful staff from the Meadows at Touchmark for making her final days so peaceful. We also want to thank those nieces and nephews whose care and love enhanced the lives of both Marie and Dick over the years.
