- Dorothy L. Schmidt, age 89, of Clintonville, WI, formerly of Appleton, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at the Shawano Medical Center with her children by her side. Dorothy was born on August 18, 1918, in Shiocton, WI. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Augusta (Buss) Conradt. Dorothy grew up in Shiocton where she was later united in marriage to Gilbert Schmidt on December 27, 1941. Upon Gilbert's return from military service, the couple moved to Clintonville. They were members of the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville where Dorothy was a past member of the Ladies Aid. Gilbert then preceded Dorothy in death on November 1, 1979. A few years later, Dorothy moved to Appleton where she became a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Recently she moved to the Angelus Retirement Community in Clintonville, and also rejoined St. Martin Lutheran Church. Dorothy was an excellent mother who enjoyed being a homemaker.
Survivors are two daughters: Betty (Gary) , Shawano; Linda (Donald) Bohman, Appleton; two sons: Robert (Jane) Schmidt, Severn, MD; James (Sue) Schmidt, Greenleaf; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Daniel Conradt, Navarino; her sister, Elvira Feller, Kaukauna.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gilbert, a son Gerald, a granddaughter Elizabeth Schmidt, a grandson Jeffrey Klitzke, four brothers: Vilas, Norman, David, and Wilbert, and a sister Eveline Conradt.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville, with the Rev. Christian Burg officiating, and interment will follow at the Graceland Cemetery also in Clintonville. Friends may call at the church only on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. Memorials may be directed to the St. Martin Lutheran School Building Fund. The Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home in Clintonville is assisting her family.
