- Arthur G. (Junior) Kromer, 81, Kaukauna, was called to eternal life on Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Parkside Care Center, Little Chute. He was born in Kaukauna on Sept. 17, 1926, to the late Arthur E. and Grace (Waters) Kromer. He was born again in the Spirit on Oct. 17, 1926, through the waters of Holy Baptism at Trinity Lutheran, Kaukauna, where he remained a longtime, faithful member. On Feb. 26, 1949, he married Leila V.E. Schurr in Two Rivers. Art proudly served in the Army during World War II. Art was a past commander and 62 year member of the American Legion Post 41. Art enjoyed fishing and playing Sheepshead. He volunteered at 1000 Islands Environmental Center and served on the board. Art was especially proud of his family's history with the Kromer Kap that his uncle invented.
Art is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leila; three daughters, Beryl (Don) Barker, Appleton; Kay (Ron) Peters, Appleton; and Kim (Roger) Holtz, Kaukauna; five grandchildren, Tim and Tyler Reynolds, Michelle (Gregg) Jahnke, Adam (Kelly) Holtz and Marie (Ryan) MacPherson; three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Jahnke, Grace and Rose MacPherson; one sister, LaVerne Goetzman; and special nephew, Lance Goetzman. He is further survived by additional nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Art was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral at 11 a.m. at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH (804 Grignon St. Kaukauna). Military rites performed by the Kaukauna V.F.W. Post 3319 will immediately follow. Committal Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church Cemetery, Kaukauna.
A memorial is being established in Art's name.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers who so lovingly cared for our father during the last year of his life.
