- Captain, Hilda C., Appleton,Age 90, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 8, 2003 and complet ed her life's final journey. She is now in the presence of her lord and Go d. Hilda was born in Wrightstown on September 20, 1913, daughter of the la te John and Antoinette (Kerkhoff) Liebergen. In 1938, she married Hubert C aptain at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton; he preceded her in dea th in 1988. Hilda was a Christian role model who was deeply committed to h er faith life. She lived each day by embodying her Catholic principles. F or many years, Hilda was an active volunteer and faithful member of St. Jo seph Catholic Church, and also supported missions and orphanages worldwid e. Near and dear to her heart was the St. Joseph Food Pantry, where she vo lunteered countless hours, and was honored to be the 1988 Volunteer of t he Year. She also enjoyed tending her garden and reading.Survivors include five children: Ken (Daryl) Captain of Carson City, Nevad a; Lynn (John) Pfefferle of Appleton; Dennis (Joan) Captain of Appleton; L eann (Jay) Ross of Denver, Colorado; Lois Constantine of Coal Creek Canyo n, Colorado; six grandchildren: Cary Captain, Anne (Jay) Walkowski, Micha el (Lydie) Pfefferle, Amy (Eric) Oelhafen, James J. Captain, and Sara Cons tantine; four great-grandchildren: Joseph and Lauren Walkowski, Charlie Pf efferle, and Emma Oelhafen; a sister: Elsie Branchford of Appleton; a nd a sister-in-law: Stella Liebergen. Hilda was preceded in death by her p arents, her husband in 1988, sons Thomas Captain and James S. Captain, bro thers Alvin (Ceil) Liebergen, Harold Liebergen, and Marvin (Hattie) Lieber gen; sisters Mildred and Irene Liebergen, and a brother-in-law Howard Bran chford.The funeral liturgy for Hilda will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, Octob er 10, 2003 at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 W. Lawrence Street in Apple ton with Fr. Larry Abler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Jose ph Cemetery. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 9: 30 AM until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund h as been established in Hilda's name.The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to all of the physici ans, nurses, and technicians for the care, concern, compassion, and profes sional manner shown to Hilda by Affinity Hospice and St. Elizabeth Hospit al staff members.
