- Theodore's obituary appeared in the "Ladysmith News," from Ladysmith, Rusk County, Wisconsin on May 12, 1939:
"Theodore Newhouse, highly respected Rusk county citizen for the last 41 years, died at his home on East Lake avenue early on Monday morning, his death coming as the result of a short illness and the infirmities of old age. Deceased was 92 years of age at the time of his passing. Mr. Newhouse was born in Milwaukee October 17, 1847, where he grew to young manhood and then took up farming in Brown county. In 1877 he was married to Barbara Leonhard, who died five years later. In 1894 he was married the second time to Elizabeth Leonhard. The family moved to a farm near Loyal, where they resided until 1898, at which time they moved to Tony, and in 1926 Mr. Newhouse moved to Ladysmith, where he resided until the time of his death. Surviving relatives are the widow and three daughters, Mrs. Herman Decker and Mrs. Howard Merrill, and Mrs. Oscar Johnson; and seven sons, John of Tony, Frank and Barney, Peter, Grayslake, Ill., Edward, Marathon City, Joe, Antigo, and Harry, of Parker's Prairie, Minn. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services, in charge of the McElravy funeral home, were conducted at the family residence Wednesday with internment in the Tony cemetery." (Source: "Nienhaus Family History and Genealogy")
