- Tuesday morning at 8:15 in the morning, in the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Nic Rach, in Hinzeville, Mr. Wilhelm Brill died unexpectedly from the weakness of old age. With his death another of the pioneers of the Town of New Holstein has been called home to the Father. Mr. Brill was born on March 12, 1834 in Belgium and has reached the age of 82 years. At the age of four years he came to America with his parents, settled in Sheldon, New York. There he married Catharine George in 1861, and shortly there after they came to Wisconsin where the newlyweds purchased a piece of land, two miles south of New Holstein, which was then virgin forest, which they over the years, through hard work, they turned it into one of the finest farms in Calumct County.
About 10 years ago they retired, and at first lived with their daughter Mrs. Petesch in Milwaukee. About 5 years ago they returned and made their home with Mr. and Mrs. Nic Rach in St. Anna. In 1913 his wife died and since then he has remained with the named relatives until his death.
The marriage was blessed with 17 children, of which 9 are still living, namely: Theo Brill in the Town of Russel, Joseph in Kiel, Mrs. A. G. Georges in Marcus, Iowa, Mrs. Peter Petesch in Geyser, Montana, Mrs. Nic Rach in Kiel, Leo and Otto in New Holstein, and Amos in Geyser, Montana. Additionally one sister, Mrs. Weber in Fond du Lac, also 51 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren survive him.
The burial will take place on Friday morning at the Catholic Cemetery in St. Anna with Father Schmitt officiating.
