- Elmer O. Kuchenbecker, age 87, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side Sunday, September 29, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Neenah on November 13, 1925 to the late Charles and Rosetta (Leubke) Kuchenbecker. He graduated from Neenah High School and lived in Neenah all his life. Elmer married Ione V. "Ginny" Hansen on November 2, 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Neenah, where he was still an active member. They raised a family of five daughters whom he loved dearly. He worked at George Banta Company until he retired in 1988 at the age of 62.
Elmer loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, bowling, traveling, and visiting his daughters who lived out of state. He enjoyed his grandchildren's sporting events and his love for hunting and fishing gave him great pleasure. He made sure he taught all his daughters how to fish. Our dad had many stories he could tell you about his fishing and hunting days.
Elmer always had a smile on his face and was there to lend a hand whenever he could. His sense of humor brought laughter to all that knew him.
He will be sadly missed by his five daughters: Judy (David) Cooper, Virginia; Janet Kuchenbecker, Florida; Debra (Tom) Kopitzke, Greenleaf; Diane Thompson, Florida; and Kathy (Bob) Birkholz, Neenah; nine grandchildren: Jason Cooper, Virginia; Adam (Jessica) Cooper, Virginia; Laura (Christopher) Coppler, Virginia; Chad (Becky) Kopitzke, Neenah; Casey (Erin) Kopitzke, DePere; Kyle (Stephanie) Kopitzke, Appleton; Tod (Geraldine) Thompson, Florida; Jared (Jacquie) Birkholz, Appleton; Brett (Alyssa) Birkholz, Green Bay. He is further survived by 11 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Hunter, Caleb and Sophia Cooper; Amelia and Spencer Coppler and Baby Coppler to be born September 30, 2013; Clara and Noelle Kopitzke; Samuel Kopitzke; Camden Thompson; and another great-grandbaby due in March to Brett and Alyssa Birkholz; as well as a brother-in-law, Richard Hansen, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny; his parents; his mother and father-in-law; two sisters and two brothers; and a great-granddaughter, Catherine Kopitzke; as well as other relatives.
A visitation for Elmer will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home and again on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 407 Oak St., Neenah, from 9:30 A.M. until the 11:00 A.M. Funeral Service, Rev. Tony McKenzie officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Elmer's name.
