- John A. Hansen, 84, died Thursday evening, March 22, 2007, at Harbor House in Green Bay.
He was born Dec. 27, 1922, to the late Peter and Minnie (Laudenklos) Hansen.
On June 26, 1948, he married Ruth Wanner at Grace Lutheran Church in Green Bay. John served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a lifetime member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a member of the choir. John worked for the railroad, managed the VFW Post 2037 and later owned G.J.'s Corner in Howard. He loved playing cards - especially cribbage and sheepshead. John enjoyed camping and fishing trips and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ruth Hansen, Green Bay; four children, Kristine Antolec, Green Bay; Peter (Jean) Hansen, Doty; Paul (Kathy) Hansen, Shawano; and David (Ingrid) Hansen, Appleton; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Hansen, Green Bay; and Peggy (Bob) Joppe, Green Bay; two brothers, Bob Hansen, Hudson; and Dick (Carma) Hansen, De Pere. John is further survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Gathering time with family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2007, at Grace Lutheran Church, 321 S. Madison, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. A VFW Post #2037 service will be held at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 26, at Grace Lutheran Church from 1 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 2 p.m. with Reverend Larry Lange officiating, with Military Honors to follow.
A memorial has been established in John's name.
