- Raymond Van Hoof, 81, Oconto Falls, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 8, 2011, at home. He was born June 22, 1929, in the town of Morgan, to John and Catherine (Uptenkelter) Van Hoof. On Nov. 27, 1948, he married Alice Jurgilanis, and they had six children together. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1970.
married Ann Morrell, and they had one child together. Ray was a lifelong Oconto Falls resident where he was employed at Scott Paper Co. for 40 years. He lived life to the fullest and had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, antique tractor pulling, snowmobiling,
working on small engines, playing cards, traveling, good music and dancing, especially to the band of his nephew Bobby Wendt, who always played his favorite song for "Uncle Ray." Ray was always there for his children and anyone who needed help with various tasks. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls.
Survivors are his wife, Ann Van Hoof; his children, Catherine (Kerry) Bresnahan, Larry (Lynn) Van Hoof, Cindy (Scott) Harteau, Rebecca (Gary) Robson, Jennifer Jarvey, Randy (Julie)Van Hoof, Christine (Daniel) Castle; three stepchildren, Susan (Jay) Rietz, Richard (Sheri) Morrell, Michael (Brenda) Morrell; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and first wife, he was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011, at Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls (920-848-2222 or visit: www.jonesfuneral.com). Visitation will continue at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Oconto Falls after 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011, until the time of service. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at church with the Rev. Fr. Joel Sember officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
