- Draheim, AliAlice M. Draheim, age 93, Menasha, passed away in the presence of her lovi ng family at her home on Saturday evening, September 9, 2006. Alice was bo rn September 21, 1912, in Appleton, Wis., the daughter of the late John a nd Helen (Hansen) Harold. She married Harvey Draheim on August 28, 193 7, at St. Mary Church in Menasha. They celebrated 64 years of marriage bef ore his death on October 25, 2001. In her earlier years she was employ ed by Zwicker Knitting Mill and enjoyed playing the cello with the Lawren ce University Conservatory.Alice loved and cared about everyone and always took time to chat, to list en, to comfort and to support family, friends and everyone who entered h er life. Her creative talents were expressed to perfection in everything s he attempted from painting to cake decorating, cooking to refinishing furn iture, gardening to sewing, designing fashions to creative crafts — Moth er did it all with perfection and pride. And, the cookie jar was always fu ll! Her family was her life.The depth of our mother's soul was too deep to measure in this writing, f or her heart was the size of an ocean and her love was endless like the sk y. She has shared this love with her family in the most giving and patie nt ways for all our lives, continually putting our desires ahead of her ow n. Every aspect of her character has been built around motherhood, and h er dedication to this task was apparent in the way she lived her life. H er loving, compassionate giving spirit has made us who we are today and th erefore we cherish her love always. Her children, grandchildren, and great -grandchildren know exactly how much she loved them through the smiles s he shared, even though those smiles sometimes had to fight through tea rs to make it to the surface. How do you thank someone for her contributi on to your very being? Guess we know of no better way than to say "We lo ve you, too, Mom, and thanks for all you did for us."Alice is survived by her son, Harvey "Joe" (Gail) Draheim, Weyauwega; h er three daughters: Helen (Don) Kleckner, Mountain Center, CA; Marianne (R on) Buehring, Payson, AZ; and Kathleen (Gene) Dorn, Appleton. She is al so survived by eight grandchildren: Kelly (Dirk) Yarnell, David Buehrin g, Becky (Lars) Forsythe, Jes (Dennis) Lahay, Jode Draheim, Jason Drahei m, Scott Dorn, Steven (Amy) Dorn, 12 great-grandchildren, her sisters-in-l aw: Margaret Harold and Pearl Harold, several nieces and nephews.Her parents, her husband and two brothers preceded her in death.Funeral services for Alice will be held on Saturday, September 16, 200 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 528 Second Street, Menasha, wi th Father Paul Radetski officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemeter y. Friends and family will be received at the church on Saturday morning f rom 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing a memorial.The family would like to graciously thank Dr. Curtis Baltz and his incredi ble staff, all the nurses on 5th floor Theda Clark staff for their outstan ding care.
