- Calvin J. Waite, Sr., age 78, of 46 Sixth St., Clintonville, passed away u nexpectedly Sunday, February 5, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Appleto n. Calvin John Waite was born March 5, 1927, in Shawano County to Mark a nd Agnes (Koeller) Waite. He lived most of his life in Shawano and Clinton ville. Cal graduated from Shawano High School and served in the U.S. Na vy during World War II from April 1945 to July 1946. He was united in marr iage on October 21, 1950, to Joyce B. Madden at St. Patrick Catholic Churc h, Lebanon. Over the years, Cal served on the Clintonville Police Dept., t he Clintonville Fire Dept. for 21 years, and the Common Council for 22 yea rs. He owned and operated a variety of businesses including a beer distrib utorship, liquor store, and fire extinguisher business. He also drove fi re trucks for FWD Corp.
Cal is a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Clintonville.
Cal was a loving husband, father and friend to many. He cared about his co mmunity and family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and gr eat-grandchildren. He spent many hours on his deck watching neighborhood p rojects and liked being outside. He will be truly missed by those who kn ew him and in the community.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce; three sons: Rick (Marsha) of Clintonvil le, Jim "Rock" (Kathy) of Little Chute, and Cal Jr. of Clintonville; two d aughters: Barb (special friend Dave Norder) Yaeger of Clintonville and J an (Peter) Schuster of Oregon, WI. There are five grandchildren and five g reat-grandchildren. Further survived by a half sister, Jane (Dick) Zmu da of Santa Monica, CA; and many nieces and nephews in California.
Cal is preceded in death by his parents, a brother and sister-in-law, Warr en and Betty Waite of California.
Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 8th at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Cathol ic Church, Clintonville. Fr. David Lewis will officiate. Inurnment wi ll be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p. m. at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, and on Wednesday fr om 10 a.m. until time of mass at the church. Military honors will be provi ded by members of the American Legion Post #63 and V.F.W. Post #664 of Cli ntonville.
