- Van Lanen, Thom as J.Thomas J. Van Lanen died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, in Florida. Born Jan. 1 8, 1937, in Green Bay, to Edward and Cecilia Van Lanen (Le Mieux). Marri ed Oct. 1, 1960, to Jane Kralovetz. They had two children, Karen and Sand ra Van Lanen. Karen preceded him in death in 1992.
Tom was a member of the United States National Guard for six years and a m ember of the National Sheet Metal Workers Local 33. He worked for Badger S heet Metal for 25 years and then started his own sheet metal business, Van 's Sheet Metal Inc., in Green Bay, which he owned and operated for 18 year s. His wife worked with him and they both retired in 1996, at which time t hey moved to the Twin Bridge area in the summer and lived six months in La dy Lake, Fla., in the winter. After retirement he did a lot of woodworki ng and made various items for many people. Tom loved his tools and real ly enjoyed his extended family at his Florida home in Recreation Plantati on Park.
Tom was always ready to help anyone who needed it and gave many peop le an opportunity for a better life. He loved his two daughters and six gr andchildren and five great-grandchildren and he will always be in their he arts.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Jane, of 46 years; his daughter, Sand ra Van Lanen, her two children Vanessa and Chantel Van Lanen; Karen's fo ur children, Nicole Holsonback and her husband, Larry, and their two child ren, Keith and Trey, Kimberly Zellner and her son, Raymond, Connie Zelln er and her daughter, Chloe, Tom Zellner and his fiancee, Jenny, and the ir son, Wynston; two sisters, Jan Baumgart and her husband, Bob, Green Ba y; Joan Jadin and her husband, Norb, Green Bay; four brothers, Jim Van Lan en and his wife, Barb, Two Rivers; Pat Van Lanen and his wife, Delores, Gr een Bay; Bob Van Lanen, Green Bay; John Van Lanen and his wife, Nancy, Gre en Bay; two sisters-in-law, Lois Stathas, Florida; Illa Mullen, Appleto n; four brothers-in-law, Hank Kralovetz, Shawano; Darrel Kralovetz and h is wife, Jean, Shawano; Jim Kralovetz and his wife, Joan, Crivitz; and D an Kralovetz and his wife, Mary Beth, Cecil; four godchildren, Bob Baumga rt Jr., Tom Jadin, Jon Kralovetz and Jim Van Lanen Jr.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen; his parents, Edward and C ecelia Van Lanen; his wife's parents, Hank and Lorraine Kralovetz; and h is sister-in-law, Marilyn Berna.
Friends may call at Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Crivitz on Monday, Ma rch 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. Visitation will continue in Green Bay on Tuesda y, March 21, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Church in Bay Settlem ent and Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Nicolet Memorial Gard ens in Bay Settlement.
