- Blahnik, Berna rd E.Bernard E. Blahnik, 78, Rock Island, Ill., died Thursday, Aug. 31, 200 6, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport, Iowa. Mr. Blahnik w as born Jan. 1, 1928, in Manitowoc, Wis., a son of Edward and Elizabeth Le iterman Blahnik. He married Bobbe Soletski, Dec. 30, 1943, in Denmark, Wi s. Bernard graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, with a ba chelor of arts degree in business administration, and was also a gradua te of the Purdue University Professional Management Institute. He joined M odern Woodmen of America in 1957 and became manager of Modern Woodmen's Il linois Northwest agency in 1964. Bernard served on the Society's boa rd of directors from 1990 to 1993 and retired as agency manager in Janua ry 1999. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a memb er of the City of Rock Island Liquor Commission, the Rock Island Arsenal G olf Club and was Chairman of the Board of the Calvary Cemetery Assn. He se rved a number of years as president of the Parents Club of the Villa de Ch antel, Rock Island. Bernard loved his family and was fond of animals. He w as an avid Green Bay Packers fan and enjoyed boating.Survivors include his wife, Bobbe; daughters, Barbara Mueller, Rock Islan d; and Robbie Blahnik and her fiance, Jimmy J. Contreras, Rock Island; gra ndchildren, John Mueller, Rock Island; and Katherine Mueller and her compa nion, Nicolas A.Varadi, Chicago; and brother, Donald Blahnik, Green Bay.He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell J. Blahni k.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at S t. Anthony's Catholic Church, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. T uesday at the Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island. Inurnment will be 2 p. m. Thursday at Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island, where military honors wi ll be presented by Moline American Legion Post 246.
