- Diedrich, Francis J.Francis J. Diedrich, age 88, of the Chilton Care Center, formerly of W47 52 Moore Rd., Hilbert, died on Saturday April 29, 2006, at the Care Cent er in Chilton. He was born on March 29, 1918, in the Town of Stockbridg e, son of Christian and Elizabeth (Franzen) Diedrich. Francis serv ed as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II fr om June 21, 1941, to Nov. 7, 1945. He trained as a supply clerk in Texa s, and served in the Mandates Air Offensive in Japan, earning the Armed Se rvice Defense Medal, the American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Servi ce Medal, and two Overseas Service Bars. Following the service he work ed as a mason in Milwaukee. Francis became an accomplished bricklayer a nd lead mason on many of the large building projects in Milwaukee and he w orked in masonry construction for many years until his retirement. He w as a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Stockbridge, the American Legi on Post # 128 of Stockbridge, and was a 50 year member of the Bricklaye rs and Allied Craft Workers Union. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sturgeon s pearing, playing cards, and watching the birds.Survivors include two brothers: Roman (Doris) Diedrich of Stockbridge; Nor bert Diedrich of CA; two sisters: Katherine Baltz of Fond du Lac; Clara (F rank) Biehl of Menomonee Falls; many nieces, nephews, and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Chris and Elizabeth Diedrich; a b rother, Joseph Diedrich; six sisters: Helen Dimmick, Gertrude Goedde, Ma ry Schmidt, Elizabeth Czbinski, Sister Roman Diedrich, Sister Virgilia Die drich; five brothers-in-law: Milo Baltz, Ervin Czbinski, Glen Dimmick, Har old Goedde, & Bob Schmidt.Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday May 4, 2006, at St. Mary Ca tholic Church in Stockbridge, with the Rev. Leander Nickel officiating. Mi litary rites by American Legion Post #128 of Stockbridge will follow. Buri al will take place on Friday in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at t he church from 4 p.m. until the time of services. A memorial fund has be en established in the name of Francis J. Diedrich.
