- Dorothy G. Stiebs, New London, age 86, died on Sunday, July 9, 2006, at S t. Joseph Residence in New London. Dorothy was born on June 12, 1920, in S ugar Bush daughter of the late Carl and Jessie (Crowner) Poehlman. On Ju ne 13, 1937, she was united in marriage to Carl Stiebs at St. John's Luthe ran Church in Baldwins Mill. With joyful hearts Dorothy and Carl operat ed a dairy farm for almost 10 years in the Bear Lake area and for more th en 30 years at Route 1, Ogdensburg. She was also employed by the Hortonvil le Toy Factory, Tradewinds, Manawa and Service Master.
Dorothy's greatest happiness came in caring for her family and spending ti me with her companion dogs. She was a good and faithful servant of the Lo rd and leaves her family with precious memories of her love, spirited sen se of humor, kindness, industriousness and helpfulness to those in need. D orothy was also the greatest pie maker ever and leaves fond recollectio ns of the smell of her freshly baked bread and the clothes drying on the r acks after hanging outside in below-zero weather. Dorothy was a memb er of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco, where she served with the Ladi es Aid Society, Altar Guild and other church committees.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 69 years, Carl, her children: Nan cy Stiebs, Plover; Mike Stiebs, Hortonville; and Kathy (Bill) Drews, Larse n; her grandchildren, Jan (Ernie) Flatoff, Plover and their children, K im and Caitlin Flatoff; Sue (Mike) Zarecki, Junction City and their childr en, Jessica and Megan Zarecki; Tami (Dennis) Burton Appleton and childre n, Alex and Courtney Oenes; Julie (Terry) Otremba, Minneapolis, MN; Kris ( Trent) Munyer, Coeur d'Alene, ID and their daughter, Ava; Jennifer Kuppern us, New London and her son, Konnor; and Matthew Drews, Cudahy; brother a nd sister-in-laws: Earl (Doris) Stiebs, New London; Janet Stiebs, New Lond on. Further surviving Dorothy are nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in-law, Edwa rd (Clara) Stiebs, a granddaughter, Stephanie Drews, two sisters and broth ers in-law, Ardice (Frank) Petit and Iris (Clarence) Frye, brothers in-l aw and sisters in-law: Herman (Palma) Stiebs, Ella (Emil) Abrahamson; Walt er (Felicia) Stiebs and Leonard Stiebs.
Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 200 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Symco with Rev. Jeffrey Smil es officiating. Burial will be in Ruckdashel Cemetery in Lebanon. Frien ds may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Tuesday, J uly 11, 2006, from 4-8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. un til the time of service.
