- b>Lehman, Eva
Eva Lehman, 84, New London, was called to her Heavenly Home on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2007. She was born Oct. 20, 1922, on the old Messenger Farm at the Ledge in the town of Hortonia, daughter of Edward and Helene (Conrath) Marasch. Eva graduated from Emanuel Elementary School in 1936 and New London High School in 1940. After graduation she went to Milwaukee, where she worked at the Methodist Home, then at Eddie's Coffee Shop. During WWII, she was employed at Cutler Hammer. On Feb. 12, 1944, she married a sailor by the name of Lester Lehman, who had returned from overseas. When her husband was reassigned, Eva went to Mill Valley, California to live with her husband. She was a blue-print machine operator at Marinship located in Sausalito. After her husband went overseas in April 1945, she returned to New London where she lived with her mother and step-father, Daniel Rex, and worked at Four Wheel Drive Auto Co. When her husband returned from service, they moved to Clintonville where they had their first child, Cheryl. During the spring of 1947, they moved to New London to live in her childhood home where a second child, Marc, was born.
In New London, she worked at several places including Meshke's Grocery Store, the Dime Store, Riverside Grill, the Outdoor and Grand Theatres and the school lunch program. This helped provide the means of sending daughter, Cheryl, to Fox Valley Lutheran High School and providing both children a college education. Each Sunday she went to church at Emanuel Lutheran or listened to the service over the radio. Every day she read her Bible. Eva and Lester were happily married for 63 years.
She is survived by her husband, Lester; her daughter, Cheryl (Rev. Carl) Ziemer; and her son, Marc (Jan) Lehman, Sr.; seven grandchildren, Timothy (Jen) Ziemer, Benjamin (Vieths) Ziemer, Katherie (Brent) Sexton, and Carl (Jessica) Ziemer, Aleksandra (Anton) Koslovsky, Marc Lehman, Jr., and Samuel Lehman. Her great- grandchildren, Kyle and Griffin Ziemer; Bailey, Phoebe, Abbye and Micah Ziemer; Carter and Ty Sexton; Justin Ziemer, Jesse Young and Delilah Koslovsky.
