- Dockry, Ruth M. Campbell
Ruth M. Dockry, Humboldt, Iowa, 84, passed away at Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton, Wisconsin on Monday, April 23, 2007. Ruth Mercedes Campbell, daughter of Mame (Hughes) and John Campbell Sr. was born in Dumont, Iowa on June 14, 1922. The family moved to Humboldt, Iowa, in 1930. She was educated at St. Mary's School and after graduation went to the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. After working in Des Moines and Chicago, she enlisted in the United Stated Naval WAVES in World War II. She served in the Communications area until her discharge. She met and married Donald Dockry Sr. in 1948 and lived in Green Bay, Wisconsin, raising a family of six children, and was active in school, church and community affairs. She was an avid reader, golfer and Bridge player. She returned to Humboldt in 1980, living there until 2004 when she moved to Appleton, Wisconsin.
Ruth is survived by her children: Brett, Bloomington, MN; Barbara (Tim) Bauer, Appleton, WI; Nancy (Ray) Lucas, Green Bay, WI; Patricia (Mike) Rutz, Seattle, WA; Donald (Deb) Dockry Jr., Apple Valley, MN; and Paul (Laurie) Dockry, Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren: Brian and Chris Bauer, Ryan and Meghan Rutz, Alysa and Kevin Dockry, John, Tom and Rob Dockry; two step-children: Nick and Kim Lucas. Ruth is also survived by a sister, Mary Will, Humboldt, IA; sister-in-law, Mary Alice Campbell, Sheldon, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mame (Hughes) and John Campbell; sister, Dorothy Clancy; brothers: Jack Campbell Jr., Humboldt, IA and Keith Campbell, Sheldon, IA; her former husband, Donald Dockry, Sr., Green Bay, WI; and brother-in-law, Cecil Will, Humboldt, IA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt, Iowa with Reverend William Schreiber officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Humboldt, Iowa. Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt, will be in charge of arrangements.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Ruth's exceptional physicians, the compassionate staff and volunteers at Cherry Meadows Hospice and Theda Care at Home Hospice for the wonderful care given during her illness. The family is also grateful for the friendship and care extended to Ruth during her days living at Touchmark.
