- Dorothy J. Clinton, age 72, of the Township of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, passed away Tuesday eve-ning, February 27, 2007, at her residence. Dorothy was born on November 14, 1934, in the Township of Bear Creek, the daughter of the late Frank and Cecilia (Rietzner) Schertz. On November 14, 1951, she was united in marriage to Roland "Joe" Clinton at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek. The couple lived in the Township of Bear Creek for three years, then moved to Berlin where they farmed for eleven years. While living in Berlin, Dorothy worked at the Kolpin Company. In 1966, they moved back to the Township of Bear Creek where they have farmed since. While farming, they have been very active in community affairs. Between 1977 until 1988, they co-founded and co-owned the Starlite Bowling Alley, Clintonville, now Clintonville Lanes. In 1978, they hosted Farm Progress Days, in 1992 and 1995 they hosted the Clintonville Chamber of Commerce Breakfast on the Farm, and in 2003 they again hosted the 50th Anniversary of Farm Technology Days.
Dorothy was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bear Creek, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and belonged to the PCCW. She was an active member of the Bear Creek Lions Club, where she became the first woman member, and currently was chairperson of the Waupaca County FSA (Farm Service Agency). Her hobbies included driving tractors, snowmobiling, entertaining friends in their home, traveling, and driving her Honda scooter. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family members include her husband, Roland "Joe"; twin daughters: Debra (John) Skryms, Waupaca; Diane (Donald) Konrad, Clintonville; two sons: Thomas (Gloria) Clinton and James (Sue) Clinton, Bear Creek; 11 grandchildren: Shane Young, Chicago; Melissa (Kevin) Lisowe, Neenah; Corey Young, Madison; Jodi (Derek) Kirklewski, Stevens Point; Ryan (Kristi) Clinton, Carrie (Mike) Griepentrog, Brad and Travis Clinton, Bear Creek; Krista Konrad, Durham, NC; Craig (Katie) Konrad, Hartford, WI; Casey Konrad, Madison; nine great-grandchildren: Hailey Zimdars, Taylor and Kylie Clinton, Payton and Megan Griepentrog, Carson and Amara Lisowe, Parker and Sage Marie Kirklewski; three brothers: Theodore Schertz, Robert (Shirley) Schertz and James (Joyce) Schertz, Clintonville; several nieces and nephews.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007, at St. Mary 's Catholic Church, Bear Creek, with the Rev. C. Terry LaCombe officiating with interment in the Parish Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home, Clintonville, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday, at the Church, until the time of the service. A Parish Prayer Service will be held 8 p.m. Monday evening, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the St. Mary's Catholic Church.Condolences may be sent through
