- Shirley A. Jahnke, 76, died peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2007. Mrs. Jahnke was born on August 22, 1930, in Appleton, WI, the daughter of John and Olga (Lindstrom) Limpert. She attended schools in Appleton, WI, and later worked for First National Bank in Appleton, WI. Shirley was married to Keith A. Jahnke on December 16, 1950, in Colorado Springs, CO. The couple lived in Appleton, WI, until moving to Stevens Point, WI, in 1960. Shirley and Keith Jahnke raised eight children. Shirley was a co-owner of Four Winds Gift Shop in Stevens Point, WI. She was active in her church, and volunteered for Welcome Wagon and Meals on Wheels. Shirley loved to sew, knit, and was an avid reader, golfer and swimmer. In retirement, the couple spent summers in Wabeno, WI, and winters in Fort Myers, FL.
Shirley Jahnke is survived by her eight children: Jeff (Lou Ann) Jahnke of Stevens Point, WI; Nancy Van De Hey of Everson, WA; Robert Jahnke (special friend Jan) of Kaukauna, WI; Betsy (Ben) Banasik of Menomonee Falls, WI; Anne (Mike) Fox of Stevens Point, WI; John (Sandy) Jahnke of Appleton, WI; Sarah (Charles) Zachem of Eugene, OR; Mary (Gerry) Brandt of Winamac, IN; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Barth of Pardeeville, WI; a sister, Joyce (Dick) Reiss of Milwaukee, WI; and a brother, John (Jean) Limpert of Bethesda, MD.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her sister Jean Grover.
Shirley Jahnke enjoyed a full and beautiful life, and will be remembered by the many gifts of love she gave to so many.
Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley A. Jahnke will be held on Wednesday, March 28, 2007, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point, WI. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m., with services beginning at 11 a.m. Reverend Alan Schaffmeyer will preside. A Memorial will be established at a later date.
