- Sandy J. Matas, age 65, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007, after a brave three and a half year battle with cancer.
Sandy is survived by her loving husband, Rudy Matas, after being happily and lovingly married for almost 34 years, her two loving children, Eric Matas, 31, of Pasadena, MD, and Erin Matas, 30, of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her loving mother-in-law, Irene Matas.
She ran her own Billing and Insurance business for local doctors for over 20 years. Sandy loved to do crafts of all kinds. She especially loved to weave and created many beautiful and useful items to wear and use. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, love of children — her own and others — and her artistic hands. The mountains and the sea were also dear to her kind heart as well as flowers, plants and all growing things. A special memorial will be established to accept donations in Sandy's name for Children's Hospital Foundation, 5583 Waterford Lane, Appleton, WI 54915.
Funeral services for Sandy will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2007, at 2 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 300 Broad St., Menasha, with The Rev. Timothy L. Kinne officiating. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
