Arthur Rueckl, 98, De Pere, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2007. Art was born March 29, 1909, in Luxemburg, to the late Lawrence and Mary (Servais) Rueckl. He graduated from Luxemburg High School, and then operated the family business, The Luxemburg Milling Company until his retirement in 1962. He married the former Lillian Christine Schaut June 23, 1936, at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Green Bay. She preceded him in death Oct. 12, 1994, as did a sister, Louella Larscheid. Art enjoyed many years at his cottage on the bay f Green Bay as well as wintering in Phoenix. He also enjoyed gardening. He took pride in his ushering duties at his parish, St. Francis Xavier of De Pere.
He is survived by his children, Wayne Rueckl, Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and John R. Miller, De Pere; Carol "Kay" and William J. Nelson, Baileys Harbor; a sister, Edith (James) Refsguard, Green Bay; grandchildren and spouses, Mary Miller-Clark and Daniel J., Green Bay; David J. Miller, Santa Cruz, Calif.; Drs. Jeffrey R. and Weiru Miller, Minneapolis, Minn.; William A. and Rosa Nelson, Egg Harbor; and Patrick and Julie Nelson, Longmont, Colo. He is also survived by three special great-granddaughters, Emily and Olivia Clark, and Lilli Nelson; a great-grandson, Van Liam Nelson. Special friend, Laurette Brozyna and his "special little furry friend" Simba doggie also survive.
Family and friends may call at St. Francis Catholic Church, 220 S. Michigan St. De Pere on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 5 p.m. Tuesday at the church with Abbott Jerome Treml, Fr. Tony Dolski and Fr. John H. Harper officiating. Entombment in the Allouez Catholic Mausoleum. Cotter Funeral Home, De Pere is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
