- Donald K. Huber, New London, 83, passed away at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Donald was born on April 16, 1923, in Readfield, son of the late Ernst and Hilda (Ackerman) Huber. He attended grade school in Readfield and attended New London High School, graduating in 1940. Don attended the Oshkosh Business College in 1941-1942 and received a degree in Accounting. On Feb. 22, 1947, Don was united in marriage to Marjorie Raschke. Marjorie preceded him in death in 1999.
Don was employed at the Appleton Home Office of Aid Association for Lutherans for 37 years, retiring on Dec. 31, 1985, with the title of 2nd Vice President-Administrative Services.
He was active in the Life Office Management Association serving on a number of Life Insurance committees. He received the designation Fellow of the Institute in Advanced Life Insurance.
Don was a well-known pianist and organist in the Fox Valley and leader of the Don Huber Orchestra over more than 25 years. Don would most recently be remembered for sharing his musical talent with the residents at St Joseph Residence and at the New London Senior Center.
Donald was an active golfer and member of the New London Golf Club since 1952. He was a recipient of the Jack Algiers Good Citizen Award.
Don was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, New London, since 1947 and served on various offices over the years.
Survivors are sons, Theodore (Peggy) and Todd (Sandra), New London; grandchildren, Jamie (Joe) Griffin, Terra (Jason) Schlueter, Ren Huber, Sam Huber and Joe Huber; great-grandchildren, Autumn Hawkinson, Brooks Griffin, Owen Schlueter and Jonah Schlueter.
Brothers in-law and sisters in-law, Dr. Ted Raschke and Delores (Henry) and Mildred Rozella.
Funeral services for Don will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. officiating. Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery in New London. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Emanuel Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, and also at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. The Rev.
