- Gloria J. Urban, 68, passed away Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Cherry Meadows. Gloria was born in Shawano on Oct. 5, 1938, to Harry and Lorraine (Bartlett) Schreiber. She attended Shawano High School. On April 19, 1958, Gloria married her honey, George Urban. Gloria and George enjoyed camping in their earlier years before they bought a cabin on Crooked Lake. She worked at Walgreen's as a pharmacy technician for many years. She enjoyed the people she worked with and the people she met. Her hobbies were gardening, cooking and baking, watching birds and the Green Bay Packers. She loved spending time with family and always made people happy with her homemade treats even when she was sick.
Gloria is survived by her husband, George; three daughters, Brenda (Chuck) Allen, Brigette (Gary) Nabbefeld, Greta (Mark) Voight; a son, Brian (Sue) Urban; two sisters Audrey Criscione, Carlein Holiday; a brother, Harold Schreiber; six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and stepfather, Charles Muraski; a sister, Stella Flessert; and brother-in-law, Edwin Flessert.
Funeral Services for Gloria will be held on Wednesday Jan. 3, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St Mary's Catholic Church, 312 S. State St, Appleton, with Fr. Michael O'Rourke officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, Jan 2, 2007, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home and also at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Gloria's name.
The family would also like to send a special thanks to Dr. Guenther and his staff at the Seikman Cancer Center including, Jenny, Nancy, Marlene, Chris, Ann, Karen, Patti, and Amie, Dr. Steinlage, Jamie at 3 South, and a very special thanks to all of the staff at Cherry Meadows for their care and compassion with Gloria and our entire family at this very difficult time. You are all wonderful and caring people, and may God Bless you all!
