- Helen B. Oestreich, age 89, of Clintonville, passed away Saturday evening, December 29, 2007, at the Shawano Medical Center. Helen was born on October 17, 1918, in the Township of Pella, Shawano County, WI. She was the daughter of the late Matt and Anna (Kristof) Ashenbrenner. Helen grew up in the Leopolis, WI, area and was later united in marriage to Raymond Oestreich on Dec. 7, 1935, at the St. Francis Catholic Church in Gresham, WI. The couple farmed in the Town of Pella on County Road D before moving to Clintonville where they raised a family. Around that time, Helen was employed as a seamstress at the Hanson Glove Factory in Clintonville for many years. Raymond preceded his wife in death on Jan. 16, 2005. Helen was a member of the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville where she was also a past member of the PCCW. She was the family's caretaker and enjoyed traveling and camping with her husband Ray.
Survivors are: Her daughter, Betty (Larry) Clark, Clintonville; two sons: Wayne (Carol) Oestreich, Clintonville; Bob (Linda) Oestreich, Shalimar, FL; a daughter-in-law, Faye Oestreich, Clintonville; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn Ashenbrenner, Shawano; also many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Raymond, a son James, a grandson Bob, a great-grandson Uriah, five brothers: Matt, Ernest, Jim, Clarence and Lawrence, and five sisters: Minnie Cherveny, Mary Kutil, Lily Sousek, Elsie Kresl, and Blanche Mijal.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 3, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the St. Rose Catholic Church in Clintonville with the Rev. Dave Lewis and Parish Director Pat Degroot officiating, and interment will be in the parish cemetery in Clintonville.
Friends may call at the Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home in Clintonville from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday with a parish prayer service being conducted at 6:30 p.m. by Deacon Tom Jozwiak, and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established by Helen's family at a later date.
