- Steven E. Gerbers "Gerbs", 58, Hortonville, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 20, 2008, at his home. He was born August 18, 1950, in Green Bay, to Edward and Pearl (Frisque) Gerbers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1973. He was employed at Gold Cross Ambulance Service for 30 years. Gerbs was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing year round, and deer hunting with his family every November. He married Sherry (Plaumann) October 30, 1985.
He is survived by his wife, Sherry; children: Niki (Scott) Van Hemelryk, Ben, Justin, and Stefani Gerbers; grandchildren: Henry and Lyla Van Hemelryk and Mckenna Schink; his father Edward Gerbers; brothers and sisters: Linda Van Vonderen and fiance' Bob Cloud, De Pere, Gary and Cindy Gerbers, Mesa, AZ, Richard and Joan Gerbers, De Pere, Vicki and Pete Hermsen, De Pere, Randy Gerbers, De Pere, Cathy and Dennis Doherty, De Pere, Theresa and Gary Lawrence, Denmark, Mary and Gary Zimmerman, Green Bay. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and his furry friends Whiskey and Kahlua.
Preceded in death by mother Pearl "Shorty" Gerbers, sister Diane Watermolen, and brother Dan Gerbers; father and mother-in-law, Erwin and Eileen Plaumann, and sister-in-law Lori Overesch.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. (Noon) Friday, December 26, 2008, at Christus Lutheran Church, (N1915 Julius Dr.), Greenville, WI, with Rev. Dave Morton officiating. Friends may visit the family from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 12 p.m. A memorial fund is being established in Steve's name.
