- De Wane, Clarice Wrightstown Age 81, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening January 14, 2003. The former Clarice Gilbert was born Feb. 18, 1921 in Menominee, MI. to the late George and Helen (Kubiak) Gilbert. She graduated from Menominee High School in 1939 and moved to Menasha where she worked at the Gilbert Paper Mill until her marriage to Clement De Wane on June 26, 1943. The couple moved to Wrightstown in 1949 where they started their own Funeral Home. During her early years, Mrs. De Wane was active as a Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout leader and a service officer with the Brown County Homemakers. Mrs. De Wane was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church and it's Ladies Society. She once served on the church council.
She is survived by her sister, Violet Bartels of Stephenson, MI; her children: Kathie Schampers, Kaukauna and her family, Mike, Mack, and Marty; Tom and Jan DeWane, Mishicot, and their family, Michelle Alridge and Douglas, Peggy and Paul Berntson, Phoenix, AZ, and her daughter, Jani Walker, John DeWane, Wrightstown, Dan De Wane, Wrightstown, Betty and Steve Piostrowski, Howard, and their family, Stacy, Sean, and Sara, Jean Henrigillis, De Pere, and her daughter, Rachel; Two great grandchildren, Taylor and Jessica Alridge. A sister-in-law Gladys Krowiorz of Manitowoc, Nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clem, a son, Patrick, a granddaughter, and a sister. Friends may call at the De Wane-Cotter Funeral Home 711 Main St. Wrightstown from 4 until 8 P.M. Sunday. On Monday visitation will be from 9 a.m. at the funeral home until the cortege leaves for church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Wrightstown. Interment in the parish cemetery. In Lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. The family extends a very heartfelt thank you to the Wrightstown First Responders for all of their help and concern.
