- Lorna Clara Susan (Bartz) Makholm, 90, died October 26, 2008, in Appleton, WI. She was born to Herman and Marie Bartz in Hayes, WI, the oldest of three daughters on April 18, 1918. For nearly sixty years she was married to Richard H. Makholm. He preceded her in death in October of 2004.
There are three children: Christine (Ron Comer), Appleton, WI; Donna (Bruce McGinley), Suwanee, GA; Bruce Makholm, Appleton, WI; five grandchildren: Matthew, Elizabeth and Madeline McGinley, Ross and Mitchell Comer. She is further survived by a sister, Sandy Mayer, Durand, WI; two sisters-in-law: Mae Makholm, Lisle, IL; Phylis Makholm, Stevens Point, WI; many nieces and nephews.
Lorna's greatest joy was her family and her faith. She enjoyed living on the Yatso Road farm she shared with Richard for more than 50 years, caring for the animals and being very particular about her garden. She was active for many years with Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, in Suring.
Her sister, Ruth Baccus, sister-in-law Lyn Makholm, and brothers-in law, Maynard Baccus, Leslie Mayer, Mark, Arthur and Robert Makholm also preceded her in death.
Services will be held on Friday, October 31 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in Suring with visitation at noon and a memorial service at 1 p.m. Pastor Michael Paholke will be officiating and memorials will directed to her church. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Lorna is now in her heavenly garden while Richard tends to his cattle, as it should be.
A special thanks to the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital who cherished her final day with great care.
