- Luke D. "Murph" Murphy, age 19, of New London passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2009, in Milwaukee. Luke was born on August 16, 1989, in Appleton, son of David and Jayne (Newton) Murphy. He was currently a student at UW-Milwaukee. Luke loved athletics, in high school he played golf and wrestled. He especially loved to go hunting with his family and going spring fishing on the raft with his buddies.
Luke is survived by his parents, Dave and Jayne, New London; two brothers: Mike, Stevens Point and Jake, La Crosse; maternal grandparents, John and Judy Newton, Hammond, WI; aunts and uncles: Mary Jo Murphy, Appleton; Tim (Sherry) Murphy, Appleton; Sue Murphy, New London; Bob (Teri) Murphy, New London; Mark (Peggy) Murphy, Appleton; Dave (Theresa) Hamilton, New London; Chuck (Kate) Peters, Fremont; Jay Newton (special friend Barbie Shemon), Roberts; Jennifer (Louie) Johnson, Minneapolis, MN; Godparents, Pat (Jean) Lowney and Jennifer Johnson. He is further survived by best friends and college roommates, Alex Hamilton and Dustin Koplien, numerous cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, James and Patricia Murphy and a uncle, James Murphy.
Funeral Services for Luke will be held on Friday, April 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London with Rev. Bil Sutlief officiating. Family and friends may call at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
