Janice R. Mathewson, age 76, New London, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at her home. Janice was born on January 5, 1933, in New London, daughter of the late Raymond and Florence (McKenzie) Prahl. She was united in marriage to Thomas Mathewson on November 28, 1952, in New London. She graduated from New London High School. Janice attended Stout University. She worked for the New London School District for 25 years. In her lifetime she loved to play bridge, bowling and watch her backyard birds and spending time with her family and grandchildren and also attending to her dog Suki.
Janice is survived by her husband, Tom; two sons, Randy (Karen) Mathewson, Greendale, and Jan's grandchildren Erin Mathewson and Eric (Hiba) Mathewson; Mark (Lori Stiebs) Mathewson, New London and Jan's grandchild, Sage; two brothers, Kenneth Prahl, Appleton; Kerran (Barbara) Prahl, New London; three sisters, Joyce (Fred) Sweeny, New London; Jean (Hogan) Mathewson, Appleton and Joan Arnold, New London. Special friends, Lonny Paalman and family, Barb Sawall and Karla Sterner. She is further survived by numerous, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Janice is preceded in death by two brothers, Keith and Junior Prahl.
Funeral Services for Janice will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Cline & Hanson Funeral Home in New London with Rev. Lucretia Fehrmann officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery, New London.
