- Beatrice F. Bastian, 87, Brillion, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at the Chilton Care Center where she had been a patient for several weeks. Beatrice was born May 6, 1922, in Appleton to the late John H. and Clara (Daelke) Frederick.
Beatrice was a graduate of Freedom High School and the Outagamie Normal School in Kaukauna. She taught school in Outagamie County from 1942-44. On October 12, 1944, she married Herbert W. Bastian in Oconto Falls. Together they farmed in the Town of Brillion until retiring in 1977.
Beatrice was a member of the Rural Brillion United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher, secretary of the Christian Education board and the church historian. She was also the past secretary for the Brillion Historical Society. Faith and family were very important to Beatrice.
Beatrice is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Herbert, Brillion; three sons and daughters-in-law: James and Delores, Forest Junction; Joel and Kris, Sheboygan; John and Nina, Manitowoc; three grandchildren and their spouses, Daniel and Sara Bastian, Madison; Brian and Lynn Bastian, Green Bay; Brandon and Ruth Cook, Neenah; a foster granddaughter, Michelle Heck, Sheboygan, and her son B.J. Jones; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Cook, Neenah; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her brother Earl J. Frederick, her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ralph Bastian, Nelson Bastian, Norma Bastian, Ora Bastian and Eulalia Wolfmeyer.
Visitation will be at the Wieting Funeral Home, Brillion, from Noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Becky Kindschi officiating. Burial will be in the Brillion Community Cemetery.
