Margaret, age 97, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. She was born January 27, 1912, in Tustin, WI, daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Miller) Bartel. She married Herman Rohde in July 1953, sharing 21 years together before his death September 5, 1974.
Margaret was employed by Kimberly-Clark and then by Newberry Department Store in Oshkosh for 12 years before she retired in 1953. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church, the Mary Circle, Monday Night Bible Class and Special friends Program.
She is survived by a step-daughter, Holly (Robert) Wendt, Detroit, MI; a foster son, Michael (Sherry) Bodrug, New Mexico; two sisters: Alta Puhl of Oshkosh; Janet Bartel, Oshkosh; a nephew, Dennis (Cathy) Puhl, Oshkosh; six grandchildren: Michael, Arrien, Evan, twins Jennifer and Nickolas and Bobby Bodrug; great nephew, Barry (Julie) Puhl, Oshkosh and great niece, Mary Dodge, Oshkosh.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Albert and Harold; three sisters: Annabell Metz, Bernice Bartel and Leona Bartel and a step-daughter, Barbara O'Connell.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 7, 2009, at Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mary Bauer officiating, burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral chapel on Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to First English Lutheran Church.
