- Leo J. Dedrick, age 78, of Janesville, passed away peacefully after a brief stay at Rock Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 6, 2010, with his wife by his side, following nearly a 2-year battle with Leukemia. He was born in Juneau County, WI, on May 15, 1932, the son of Emil J. and Mary (Liska) Dedrick. Leo graduated from Wonewoc High School in 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army stationed in Korea from January of 1954 to October of 1955. He retired from General Motors on January 1, 1995, after 35 years. Leo's favorite past time was working in his yard and garden and he had his own garden tilling business for many years. He loved helping other people whenever he could. He was also an avid Wisconsin sports fan, attending the University of Wisconsin football games for almost 40 years and never missing a Packers, Brewers or Bucks game on television.
Leo is survived by his wife, Lucille of nearly 47 years; son, Jeffrey Dedrick of Janesville and his daughter, Emma and step daughter, Alina; son, Dr. David J. (Lisa) Dedrick of Appleton and their son, Noah, daughter, Bailey, and stepson, Brandon Rote; sister, Marge (Howard) Chadwick of Oconomowoc; and brother, Emil (Carol) Dedrick of Union Center, WI, and their children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Richard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, July 9, 2010, at ST. MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH with Rev. Stephen J. Umhoefer officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday from 11 a.m. to the time of Mass at the church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
