- Arthur L. Bruns, 94, Chilton, died on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. He was born Oct. 19, 1916, in New Holstein, son of the late Adolph and Emelia (Klauck) Bruns. Art graduated from New Holstein High School, Class of 1935, and later, proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1942 until 1944. He married Pearl A. Cullen on Nov. 22, 1947, in Charlestown. Art worked for the Carnation Company until his retirement in 1980. He also had a small hobby farm that kept everyone in his family busy. On Sundays, Art always enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers play, and he truly enjoyed working in his many gardens. His talents went beyond gardening, as he was known for making homemade wine out of the grapes he grew. Above all else, Arthur loved spending time with those he loved, especially his family.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Pearl; his children, Colleen (Gene) Enneper, Chilton; Jim Bruns, Oregon; Sheila (George) Engel, Appleton; five grandchildren, Tina (Tony Mueller) Enneper, Tanya (Bob) Jumbeck, Shawn (Kayla) Enneper, Cadi and Joey Engel; a great-grandchild, Wil, and two others who are expected to arrive in June. Arthur is also survived by a sister-in-law, Lucille Cullen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; five brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law.
Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.
